Beauty | Smashbox Eye Shadow

Ombre is definitely on trend right now, and Eye Shadow is no exception! We have tried many amazing brands… on ourselves as well as on our clients and one of our favorites is Smashbox! Smashbox is very blendable,  highly pigmented and goes on very even and smooth. The only downside to a highly pigmented, very nice, eyeshadow is that it lasts for a very long time!;)I guess some may not see that as a downside, but to a makeup lovin, photography shootin’ gotta have it, team… it can be very difficult to not splurge on these types of purchases, necessary or not!! So yes it’s great and all, but, it is equally as great when you find yourself needing to purchase a new palette!

We grew quite fond of the Beauty Exposed Palette which included bare, camel, marble, oak & moonstone -

the perfect Ombre eye!

And while we will miss this palette, we recently had the opportunity to review the newer Smashbox Photo Op Trio palettes! We can say loud and clear, we love them! Of course they didn’t disappoint!! Either way, you can’t go wrong with Smashbox!

The trio shown below is our favorite!  It works so well with so many skin tones and eye colors. However, there is a large array of amazing trio palettes to choose from, just click on the images to view this one and the MANY others!

Make sure to let us know what trio palette is YOUR favorite! xo

daily life: learning to master your camera

There is a difference between  a professional photographer, and a creatively driven person who uses photography in their everyday life.  A professional photographer makes a large part of their income by taking pictures for clients. At the same time, some brilliant photographers incorporate their talent into all aspects of their lives, but it may not be their primary source of income. Right now, we are in a place where we do both. Not only do we run a professional photography business, but more importantly, photography is an integral part of our everyday lives and effects how we see, plan, and document our time with our family, friends, and in our community and surroundings.

We are excited to emphasize to our readers, and to other moms we know, that photography is an outlet and skill that can benefit you in so many ways. And, you can grow to be a brilliantly talented photographer, without having to be a “professional” photographer. In essence, you can master your camera (ANY CAMERA… EVEN YOUR iPHONE) so that the beauties (and struggles) of your life are documented in a masterful and creative way, one that you will cherish forever!

Some may think that tacking the term “professional” in front of the title “photographer,” somehow makes it more glamorous or prestigious. But we would argue that there is nothing more important or rewarding then spending time creating meaningful memories with your families, and documenting them so they can become traditions that live on in the lives of your families when YOUR OWN children have grown.

It can be something as simple as documenting their first lost tooth, moving your little girl into her ‘big girl’ bedroom, or taking a summer trip. It can be going for a walk, picking dandelions, or fishing! All these moments can be captured beautifully and poignantly so as to MEAN more to you and your children.

We are thrilled to be launching two new aspects of our business that will go hand in hand with each other. TEA ATELIER and LITTLE ATELIER. Tea Atelier will focus on providing classes to mom’s (and other creatives) who want to learn to master their camera (ANY CAMERA) to document their lives in a meaningful and creative way. Little Atelier (if you are a mommy) will cater to the needs and creative sensibilities of your little ones while YOU learn! Like it??? We sure do!

We can’t wait to share our complete program line with you that will be launching this Summer 2013 (basically just a short month away!) So be sure to stay tuned! In the meantime… don’t forget to document the little things…. the everyday things that make your lives special.  Doing so has brought us more joy as mom’s than we ever thought possible, and we feel like we are able to be ‘present’ in our children’s lives… even if we DO have professional careers:-)

Best~

Product Feature: Sibu

Here’s a shocking reality… We aren’t getting any younger! Yikes! Some days it is very apparent and we would like to lock our tired, dark under eye, messy bun, sweat wearing, stained T–self– in a closet … with a box of good chocolates and our iPads! With no worry about the calories or perhaps that chocolate causes ‘worse’ acne. In addition to that we probably should take along with us, a box of tissues. After all, we are bound to open up Pinterest & Instagram and find a million more reasons why WE aren’t good enough. Wouldn’t it be nice to never feel worthless? To always know YOU are AMAZING! YOU ARE! We think you are!

Speaking of chocolate, flustered, lock yourself in a closet sort of days… I think we made the point that we are looking and feeling old some days! But… MERCY!! Having husbands older than we are, we were always warned how age starts to creep in- in your thirties…. and they are right! Although, we have to add, they have NO IDEA how very sad it is to start experiencing Adult Acne in your 30′s! Reiterating… MERCY!!!

So naturally our awareness of how we take care of our bodies have been heightened (to say the least!) We are taking precautions, trying to “purchase our youth back,” our husbands joke!  However, we are embracing this life and ourselves (for the most part) and enjoying the new avenues of interest and education due to our obsessive need to research!

(hoollllllaaa Google.com!)

… but the acne has got to go!

We learned the hard way that acne solutions for teens do not have the same (good) affect for adult acne. By using some over the counter products, and nearly burning our faces off, it was obvious! (Should have trusted that one article… Ahum…we believe in trial and error!;)

Were back to the basic, no harsh chemicals, natural.

And this. It’s amazing!!

Sure, we will have acne, but it’s significantly less. Probably could be corrected by hormone therapy or birth control. But then you’re dealing with a whole new “problem”! For now we are just going to enjoy our SILK feeling skin. No Joke! This Sea Buckthorn soap is amazing & the lovely fragrance of fresh citrus orange leaves you feeling like you want to dance out of the shower. We also like the Body Lotion, and use it on our faces as well! It’s safe for the little ones and even clears up baby eczema! Any bumps on the back of your arms, we have had those since we were kids, GONE now thanks to this amazing Sibu product! Worth every (reasonable) penny.
